Argentina Delays Publication of Export Duty Reduction

The national government is delaying the publication in the Official Gazette of the announced reduction in export duties, which is impacting the settlement of agricultural exports. The measure was announced on Tuesday and, as of this Thursday, it had not been officially formalized, meaning the reduced rates are not yet in effect. This is causing delays in the settlement of exports, as companies are waiting for the tax change to secure higher profits. The government announced a reduction in export duties, which are now as follows: • Soybeans: from 26% to 24% • Soybean by-products: from 24.5% to 22.5% • Wheat and barley: from 9.5% to 7.5% • Corn and sorghum: from 9.5% to 8.5% • Sunflower: from 5.5% to 4.5% According to calculations by the private sector, received by the Argentine News Agency, the fiscal cost of the measure is between US$500 and US$700 million. This represents between 0.08% and 0.1% of GDP, which in turn puts pressure on the public accounts for 2026.
