Argentina Receives Over $700M for Hydroelectric Dams Privatization

The government of Argentina received offers for over US$700 million to privatize the management of the hydroelectric dams in the Comahue region. The final amount was US$706,885,298.49 for the privatization process of the operating societies of the Alicurá, El Chocón, Cerros Colorados, and Piedra del Águila hydroelectric complexes. This process, initiated in August, aims to modernize one of the country's most relevant hydroelectric assets. Initially, the two main offers failed to surpass the 10% threshold, necessitating a second round of proposals. Ultimately, Edison Inversiones S.A.U. presented the highest offer, completing the economic framework and advancing to the final stage of awarding the contract. 'With this instance concluded, the privatization process of the Comahue dams is advancing towards the definition of the awardees and the operational transition, planned to be completed during the current year,' concluded the statement from the Secretariat of Energy.
