According to official information, LED technology will allow for a reduction in energy consumption and maintenance costs, while improving the quality of lighting and visibility for drivers and pedestrians.
The plan will be implemented in stages: first, work will be carried out on Zufriategui Street, from Libertador Avenue to Mitre Avenue; then it will continue on Juan Bautista de La Salle Street, from Mitre to Constituyentes, and finally, work will be done on Blas Parera and Echeverría Streets, between Zufriategui and Paraná.
From the Executive Branch, it was emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader program to improve public space that includes the installation of cameras, Safe Points, sidewalk renewal, and plaza recovery, with the goal of "making Vicente López a safer and more passable municipality, both day and night".
The Vicente López Municipality began a plan to install more than 450 LED luminaries on the access roads and collector roads of the Panamerican Highway and General Paz Avenue, based on an agreement with the concessionaire Autopistas del Sol, which allows the municipality to take over lighting in a sector that was previously outside its jurisdiction.
As reported by the Noticias Argentinas agency, Mayor Soledad Martínez supervised the installation of the first equipment at the intersection of Zufriategui and Fray Justo Sarmiento, and highlighted that the project responds to "a historical claim from neighbors" who had requested more light and security in an area with intense vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
The new luminaries will replace poles and fixtures dating from the 1990s that had not been renovated for years.
