The government of the Argentine province of Mendoza has enacted a series of amendments to its Traffic Law, updating procedures and documentation requirements for drivers, legalizing the use of digital formats and ending the obligation to carry physical documents.
According to the Argentine News Agency, the most significant reform is the full equivalence between physical and digital formats for driving documents. Additionally, the regulation states that documents must be returned immediately after verification.
Audits and Administrative Flexibility The new law also includes major administrative adjustments:
Municipal Delegation: The authority of municipalities to issue the National Driver's License is reaffirmed, although the province reserves the right to audit issuing centers, with the obligation to report the results to the National Road Safety Agency (ANSV).
Change of Address: The obligation to update the driver's license when the holder changes their address within the provincial territory has been eliminated.
Article 40 of Provincial Law 9.024 now establishes that both the National Driver's License, the vehicle registration, and the proof of compulsory insurance can be presented in "any format".
Farewell to the Paper Registration The change formalizes the possibility for drivers to present their credentials through mobile applications or PDF files, without the competent authority being able to demand the printed or physical version of the document.
The license will retain its validity until the scheduled renewal date, simplifying procedures for citizens.
