Argentina to Hold National 'Black Week' with Up to 40% Discounts

From November 17 to 23, Argentina will hold its own 'Black Week' of discounts, organized by the Argentine Chamber of Distributors and Self-Service Wholesalers (CADAM). The initiative, aimed at both the general public and local businesses, will offer promotions of up to 40% on a wide variety of products. This is the second such event this year, following a similar one in May. Over 190 businesses, both physical and online, are participating with discounts on food, beverages, hygiene items, perfumery, and cleaning products. CADAM highlighted that this is a joint effort among manufacturers, distributors, and wholesalers to boost consumption. Inspired by popular 'Black' sales events, it is expected to help businesses move from 'red' to 'black' in their balance sheets, transferring promotional momentum to traditional commerce. According to private estimates, wholesale sales fell 5.4% in the first half of the year, so merchants hope this will create a multiplier effect benefiting the entire chain, from manufacturer to final consumer. In this context, business owners stated that with salaries not lasting until the end of the month, an urgent fiscal and labor reform is needed to end unnecessary mandatory contributions that increase hiring costs, do not benefit the worker, and are passed on to prices.
