Starting in November, violating traffic rules in the Province of Buenos Aires will become more expensive for drivers due to a new update in fine values, a scheme that will be in effect for two months. The increase, representing a 6.5% rise from previous values, is directly linked to the price of a liter of premium gasoline at the La Plata headquarters of the Argentine Automobile Club (ACA), a value used to determine fine amounts through a Fixed Unit (UF). With this update, according to data obtained by the Argentine News Agency, the value of one UF remains at 1,711 pesos for the November-December bimonthly period. This measure was officially finalized on October 31. The criterion for updating fines combines the evolution of the price index with an additional two percentage points, a formula that in 2025 accumulated a 54.39% increase in the Buenos Aires minimum fare, well above the 22% accumulated inflation rate until September. Furthermore, the Buenos Aires subway has a fare of 1,157 pesos for passengers making one to twenty monthly trips with a registered SUBE card; without the new registration system, the fare is 1,839.63 pesos per ticket. Other high-impact economic offenses include driving against traffic or turning in prohibited areas, with fines ranging from 513,300 to 1,711,000 pesos. Fines for illegal parking, driving without mandatory documentation, insurance, or with excess occupants also range from 85,550 to 171,100 pesos (50 to 100 UF). The same fine amount applies to drivers who refuse to take a breathalyzer test. In the case of driving with alcohol in the blood, the highest fines range from 855,500 to 2,053,200 pesos, as the prescribed penalty is 500 to 1200 UF. Driving without insurance, without a current Technical Vehicle Verification (VTV), or without a license also implies penalties within the same range. Among the most common violations is speeding, with fines ranging from 205,320 to 1,711,000 pesos (150 to 1000 UF).
