Argentina Extends Agricultural Emergency Due to Drought and Floods

Argentina's Ministry of Economy declared an agricultural emergency for the Mandisoví district in Entre Ríos and extended it in several cities of Buenos Aires and Río Negro. The measure affects farms damaged by hail, wind, floods, and drought. Authorities have set deadlines for documentation and benefit claims.


Argentina Extends Agricultural Emergency Due to Drought and Floods

The Ministry of Economy has declared an agricultural emergency and/or disaster for the Mandisoví district in Entre Ríos and extended this state in various cities of Buenos Aires and Río Negro through a series of Resolutions published this Wednesday in the Official Gazette.

The declaration for the zone in question, located in the Federación department of the Mesopotamian province, applies to citrus farms affected by hail and wind, extending from May 5, 2025, to May 4, 2026, the date set for the completion of the productive cycle for the affected agricultural enterprises.

On the other hand, Resolution 1776/2025 extended the agricultural emergency from September 1, 2025, to February 28, 2026, for agricultural enterprises affected by floods in several districts of the Bolívar, Nueve de Julio, Carlos Casares, and Tapalqué parties in the province of Buenos Aires.

At the same time, Resolution 1782/2025 extended the state of emergency from June 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026, for livestock farms affected by drought in the departments of Avellaneda, Conesa, El Cuy, General Roca, Pichi Mahuida, and 9 de Julio in the province of Río Negro.

In the same regulation, it was decided to extend the declaration for the same period to livestock farms affected by drought in the departments of Ñorquincó, Pilcaniyeu, and 25 de Mayo in the province of Río Negro.

In all zones, May 31, 2026, was determined as the date for the completion of the productive cycle for the affected enterprises.

The official texts stipulated that «for the purpose of being able to avail themselves of the benefits granted by Law 26.509 and its amendments, in accordance with what is established in its Article 8, affected producers must present a certificate issued by the competent provincial authority, stating that their farms or enterprises are included in the cases provided for in said article».

With the documentation gathered, the provincial governments will send to the Technical Secretariat of the Executive Committee of Agricultural Emergencies and Disasters «the list of affected producers, accompanied by a copy of the emergency certificate issued by the competent provincial authority».

National, official, or mixed banking institutions and the Customs Revenue and Control Agency (ARCA) will arrange the necessary means for the agricultural producers concerned to enjoy the benefits provided for in Articles 22 and 23 of Law 26.509 and its amendments.

Likewise, the regulations instructed the head of the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries to sign agreements and/or acts for the execution of the measures provided for within the framework of its competencies.
