Martín Cabrales, the most important businessman in the country's coffee sector, will preside over the 31st conference organized by the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA), which bears the motto 'The future is produced today.' He confirmed that one of the main topics to be discussed will be tax simplification. In an interview with Radio Rivadavia, he stated that the event will bring together entrepreneurs from various sectors, such as Paolo Roca (Techint) or Daniel Haddad (media), who will discuss the country's macroeconomic issues, such as keys to reducing costs, a possible tax reform, and the application of artificial intelligence to contribute to a new competitiveness. 'Argentina is a country that needs to generate jobs and, in addition, needs formality, because there is a lot of informality and that affects competition a lot,' Cabrales pointed out. Along the same lines, he emphasized that there should be 'a lower tax burden' because what is paid in taxes in the country 'is terrible' and placed on the same level of importance the danger represented by 'the informal economy' and described it as 'worse than imports': 'They don't pay any kind of taxes and that is very damaging,' he added. In another order, he also pointed out the crisis facing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as they are 'in a suffocating situation' and stated that if any of them had to pay a lawsuit today, 'it would mean closing the company.' To conclude, he indicated that it is necessary to modify the country's economic circuit and assured that if the possible reforms promoted by the National Government, based on the new composition it achieved in Congress, are implemented, 'the entire economy would reactivate on its own'.
