The Argentine government set the wholesale electricity prices for November, which will impact electricity bills.
New values (November - April) The Secretariat of Energy established:
* **Residential users:** They will pay from November 1 to April 30, 56,054 and 58,281 Argentine pesos per megawatt-hour (MWh). * **Non-residential users (businesses and commerce):** They will pay in the same period 47,310 and 51,633 pesos.
The national government modified the electricity tariff structure, and households will pay more for the service in the summer months than businesses, a situation that will be reversed during the winter.
The change was implemented through Resolution 434/2025 of the Secretariat of Energy, published in the Official Gazette.
This is because the energy sources for the two segments differ. For example, renewable and nuclear energy producers do not depend on gas costs and have long-term contracts. Industries and commerce are supplied by thermal generators that use gas and other liquid fuels, which are cheaper in the summer.
The government thus seeks to advance in the reduction of subsidies and encourage competition among generating companies to increase the energy supply.
Impact on the bill * **Residential (Metropolitan Region):** Bills will suffer increases between 3.5% and 4%. * **Industries and commerce:** They may have an increase of 2.2% or decreases of up to 10.3% in the period referred to.
The justification for the change The modification seeks to more directly reflect the supply sources for both segments. Residential users are supplied by generation methods with constant prices throughout the year.
