The National Superintendence of Insurance (SNS) has approved Resolution 589/2025, which significantly modifies the clauses and coverage amounts for civil liability insurance for vehicles intended for public passenger transport in Argentina.
Starting from January 1, 2026, the mandatory insurance will indemnify the insured and authorized driver up to 676 million Argentine pesos (ARS) per event, covering injuries, death, and material damage to both transported and non-transported individuals.
The official text also sets specific amounts for:
* Medical and hospital expenses: 910,000 ARS per person. * Burial expenses: 533,000 ARS per person. * Capital for death or total and permanent disability: 20.8 million ARS per person.
An obligatory deductible, known as a 'franchise', of 3.38 million ARS per event is to be covered by the insured.
It is stipulated that in all cases, medical and burial expenses must be paid to the victim within five days, without the insurance company being able to question the insured's responsibility, although it may exercise subrogation later.
For taxis and remises, the obligatory deductible cannot exceed 494,000 ARS and must be clearly specified in the policy.
These new conditions, effective for policies issued and renewed from January 1, 2026, aim to strengthen transparency, protection, and rapid response to claims in the public and private transport sector, in line with regulatory updates and user demands.
