In Argentina, wages in August 2025 rose by 3.2%, significantly outpacing the month's inflation, which was 1.9%. This was reported by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC). The annual wage growth reached 49.6%, also higher than the annual inflation of 33.6%. Since December 2024, wages have accumulated an increase of 27.6%, driven by growth in the unregistered private sector (67.4%), the public sector (22.5%), and the registered private sector (18.8%). For the January-August 2025 period, wages increased by 24.8%, surpassing the Consumer Price Index for the same period (19.5%). The monthly growth was composed of a 2.2% rise in the registered private sector, a 2.8% increase in the public sector, and a 6% surge in the unregistered private sector. Meanwhile, the annual increase was a result of growth in the unregistered private sector (129.9%), the public sector (38.8%), and the registered private sector (36.1%). Regarding public sector wages at the national and provincial levels, they rose by 3% and 2.9%, respectively, in August. The change compared to August 2024 was 23.3% for the national sector and 44.3% for the provincial sector. The accumulated changes since December of the previous year were 14.6% for the national public subsector and 25.7% for the provincial public subsector.
