
The price of meat in Argentina has increased significantly lately. According to the Argentine Beef Promotion Institute (IPCVA), in April there was a 6.1% increase compared to the previous month, resulting in a year-on-year rise of 65.1%. The average price per kilogram of beef was $12,061.
Regarding beef cuts, significant increases were observed in various varieties. For example, osso buco saw a 9.4% increase, chuck roll 8.1%, roast beef 7.9%, peceto 5.1%, ribeye 4.9%, and rump tail 3.3%. The highest prices were found in tenderloin, peceto, and rump tail, reaching $17,232, $14,664, and $14,634 respectively.
On the other hand, pork also experienced price adjustments. In April, the increase was 1.7%, placing the average price per kilogram at $7,534. Some of the more economical cuts were osso buco ($7,166), flank ($7,092), and ground beef ($6,346). As for chicken, there was an 8% increase, reaching an average price of $3,980 per kilogram.
In summary, the price of beef has increased by 74.2% in the last year, surpassing the annual inflation for the same period. This indicates that beef rose 18 percentage points above annual inflation, while pork increased by 27 points.
