In the province of Corrientes, the authorities have seized a BMW car valued at nearly $100 million that was being transported inside a moving truck without the proper documentation to support its entry from Paraguay into the country. More specifically, the incident occurred at the Piedritas Toll Booth, where the officers of the "Monte Caseros" Section, part of Squadron 7 Paso de los Libres "Cabo Misael Pereyra", stopped a shipment headed from the missionary city of Posadas to the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Villa Luro.
During a routine check, the border guards discovered a luxurious BMW Z3/1998 sports car hidden among other moving items, such as mattresses, appliances, and boxes. After verifying the situation, it was confirmed that the vehicle had a license plate from Paraguay but lacked the necessary authorization for its legal entry into the country.
Following the discovery, contact was made with the competent authorities, the Federal Prosecutor's Office, and the Federal Court of Paso de los Libres, who ordered the intervention of the Revenue and Customs Control Agency (ARCA). As a result, the BMW was confiscated and its value was estimated at $96,960,240. As for the truck, the driver was allowed to continue with the rest of the transfer of the items being transported, following his planned itinerary.
