During the recent long Easter weekend in Argentina, approximately 2.7 million tourists traveled to various destinations in the country, generating an estimated total expenditure of $733.128 million. According to data provided by the Argentine Confederation of Medium Enterprises (CAME), Tierra del Fuego stood out for having an average daily spending per tourist of around $320,000, while in Tucumán it was $72,000 and in Mendoza $75,000.
Compared to Easter 2023, there was a 1.9% increase in the number of tourists; however, the average stay decreased by 9%. Despite this, the economic impact, measured at constant prices, was 14.9% higher, indicating an increase in spending per person. CAME highlighted the constant movement of people on roads, bus terminals, and airports.
The total number of tourists during Easter experienced a 16% drop compared to the previous year, when the holidays coincided with Veterans Day and Heroes Day in the Falklands War, resulting in an extra long six-day weekend, unlike the four days this year. Despite the lower influx of tourists, the average spending per visitor was $87,590 per day, with an average stay of 3.1 days, totaling a consumption of $271,529 per person.
During the long weekend, only AerolĂneas Argentinas transported more than 210,000 passengers, demonstrating the continued interest in traveling despite the economic context. The most popular destinations offered a variety of activities that combined religious celebrations with cultural festivals, sporting events, and food fairs. Tourist spending showed significant differences between the various regions of the country.
