The American Chamber of Commerce in Argentina (AmCham) highlighted in its annual report the importance of strengthening commercial relations between the two countries. According to the entity, improving this link requires working on reducing trade barriers, consolidating strategic agreements, and improving the business climate in Argentina.

In this context, Argentina seeks to advance a free trade agreement with the United States, which will undoubtedly require macroeconomic stability and legal security to attract investments and enhance bilateral trade. The United States has positioned itself as the main foreign direct investor in Argentina, representing 18% of the total Foreign Direct Investment, with an amount exceeding US$ 165 billion.

AmCham warns that it is necessary to work on reducing tariff barriers and consolidating strategic agreements to strengthen trade ties between the two countries. Although the trade relationship between Argentina and the United States is solid, there are growth opportunities in various sectors, according to the Chamber of Commerce.

Regarding bilateral trade, a deficit of around US$ 2.7 billion annually for Argentina was observed during the period 2015-2023. However, in the year 2024, a surplus of US$ 302 million was achieved, attributed to a decrease in imports and a slight increase in exports. This change in the trade balance reflects the possibility of a more balanced future in economic relations between the two countries.
