The Gillett Group was the chosen avenue by River to recover the investment made by Rodrigo Villagra. Unfortunately, the transfer did not materialize due to the management by Foster Gillett, which led the Núñez club to file a complaint against the company.
In the complaint, River accuses the Gillett Group of committing the crimes of "fraud and concealment." Furthermore, it requested the Justice to raid Guillermo Tofoni's offices to obtain information about Villagra's operation and the addresses of Foster Gillett and Juan Manuel Cobian, details that were unknown until now.
The club requested the seizure of written documentation, files, technological devices, and all relevant material to clarify the situation. The failed negotiation between River and Foster Gillett for Rodrigo Villagra involved an offer of nine million dollars net.
As a result, the player had to train alone while waiting for the promised payment, which never materialized, leaving River without guarantees or funds. Eventually, CSKA Moscow acquired 50% of Villagra's rights for four million dollars, plus an extra million in bonuses.
