
Construction activity experienced a decrease of 1.3% in January compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the Synthetic Indicator of Construction Activity published by INDEC. Additionally, the seasonally adjusted index for the same month showed a negative variation of 1% compared to the previous month.
Data on the apparent consumption of construction inputs in January 2025 reveal different trends compared to the same month of the previous year. There were significant drops of 37.7% in other inputs (which include faucets, seamless steel pipes, and construction glass); a decrease of 29.1% in granite and limestone tiles; a reduction of 14.8% in gypsum boards; and a decline of 4.3% in ceramic sanitary articles.
On the other hand, significant increases were observed of 98.8% in asphalt; 10.0% in lime; 8.4% in Portland cement; 8.2% in construction paints; 6.3% in gypsum; 6.1% in ceramic tiles and coverings; 5.7% in hollow bricks; 5.3% in round iron and construction steels; and an increase of 3.0% in ready-mixed concrete.
