Carnival 2024 Success Boosts the Economy

The Carnival celebrations in Argentina attracted thousands of tourists, generating an economic impact of over $701 million and a 33.8% increase in average spending.

The Carnival celebrations in destinations like Gualeguaychú, Corrientes, and Tilcara attracted thousands of tourists and benefited the local economy. However, adverse weather conditions affected some festivities in the City of Buenos Aires and Entre Ríos, where the rains caused the rescheduling of events.

According to the CAME report, the average stay during Carnival was 2.8 days, confirming the trend of short getaways but with a high level of consumption. Entre Ríos, Jujuy, Mendoza, and Corrientes were the provinces with the highest hotel occupancy, reaching levels above 90% in several towns.

During the long Carnival weekend, 2.8 million travelers toured the country, representing a 7.6% increase compared to the same period of the previous year. The total economic impact was $701.064 billion, with an average expenditure per person of $89,167, indicating a real increase of 33.8% compared to the previous year.

In the words of the Argentine Confederation of Medium Enterprises (CAME): "The long extra Carnival weekend generated a strong boost for the tourism sector."
