Agro Export Sector Reports $2.181 Billion Liquidation

The agro-export sector of Argentina liquidated US$ 2.181 billion during February. This month partially marked the beginning of the reduction of export taxes announced by the national government. According to information released by the Chamber of Oilseed Industry of the Argentine Republic (CIARA) and the Center of Grain Exporters (CEC), this amount is 45% higher than that recorded in February 2024 and 5.2% greater than in January.

In a press release, CIARA highlighted that the influx of foreign currency in February was a result of the application of Decree 38/25, which involved a temporary decrease in export duties for the cereal-oilseed complex. This measure began to take effect in mid-month, once the corresponding regulations were finalized.

The entity pointed out that the increase in soybean purchases at a price to be set during February was decisive in the sales pace of producers. It is important to note that, although the government announced the reduction of export taxes at the end of January, its full implementation was postponed until mid-February following a series of regulatory adjustments.

This increase in the liquidation of the agricultural sector contributed to the government maintaining an active intervention in the foreign exchange market to support the values of financial dollars.
