February Auto Registrations Surge in Argentina

In February, the automotive sector in Argentina experienced significant growth in vehicle registrations. According to the Association of Automotive Dealers of the Republic of Argentina (ACARA), 42,918 units were registered, representing an increase of 71.3% compared to the same month last year.

Among the most popular brands during February are Toyota, Fiat, Peugeot, Renault, Chevrolet, Ford, Citroën, Jeep, and Nissan. The Fiat Cronos was the most registered model, with 2,872 units, followed by the Peugeot 208 and the Toyota Hilux.

Despite the year-on-year growth, there was a decrease of 38.2% in vehicle registrations compared to January, when 69,478 units were registered. However, in the annual cumulative, the sector has shown a growth of 99.8% in the first two months of the year compared to the same period last year.

Sebastián Beato, president of ACARA, highlighted the good growth trend that has characterized the beginning of the year, attributing this phenomenon to tax reductions and the wide vehicle offerings from brands. Beato also pointed out that the downward pressure on prices has attracted consumers to dealerships, representing a positive trend for the sector.

With Volkswagen leading in February with 7,257 units sold, the Argentine automotive market is projected with optimism for the coming months, despite the challenges that still persist in the current context.
