The government of Javier Milei has updated the prices of documents issued by the National Registry of Persons (Renaper), such as the National Identity Document (DNI) and the passport. These changes will come into effect on Saturday, March 1.
The new costs for the DNI are established as follows: for a newly born DNI (from 0 to 6 months) there will be no cost; the first DNI, which includes citizenship letter and nationality option, will cost $7,500; DNI updates for people aged 5/8 years and 14 years will have the same price; obtaining a new copy of DNI for reasons such as data updates, address change, or adoption will have a value of $7,500. Additionally, express services are introduced that allow obtaining the document in 24 business hours for $22,000 or instantly at authorized offices for $33,000.
For procedures related to foreign persons, the cost of the first identification for MERCOSUR citizens and associated states, as well as DNI updates for foreigners, will be $14,000. Meanwhile, a new copy of DNI for foreigners will also be valued at $14,000.
In addition to these prices, additional services such as validation through API REST technology, passport verification, and passive life testing are offered, each with a specific additional cost.
Exemptions are maintained for people who cannot afford the payments, such as those without economic resources or those needing a new copy due to formal errors within 90 days after the document delivery.
Regarding the new passport values, provision 199/2025 of Renaper has established the corresponding fees with the aim of maintaining high standards in technology, design, and security of Argentine travel documents. The ordinary passport for Argentines with regular delivery will cost $70,000, with additional fees for express delivery and immediate resolution. Additionally, specific prices were set for exceptional passports and travel documents for stateless persons or refugees, all valued at $70,000.
These measures aim to improve the efficiency of procedures and ensure quality standards in the issuance of official documents in Argentina.
