Reconstruction Work on Route 60 to Take 90 Days

Work on National Route 60 in the Quebrada de La Cébila will take 90 days to change two pipes 3.50 meters in diameter, reconstruct the concrete wings, the barriers, and restore the structure along with the roadway. This section is vital for the connection between the Central Valley and the west of Catamarca and towards the north of the province of La Rioja.

The work carried out by National Highway Administration included the construction of a detour and the filling of areas eroded by floods. With the completion of this project, it is hoped to provide reassurance to motorists traveling in the area and allow for the continued reconstruction of the route.

The detour built is more than 100 meters long and has enabled workers to reconstruct the broken culvert on National Route No. 60 at the La Cébila River. This culvert was damaged due to an extraordinary flood of the watercourse 10 days ago.

During the work, the shoulders have also been reconstructed and the cleanup of plant debris and branches swept away by the floods has been carried out. To implement the detour, 3,500 meters of soil had to be removed, 180 meters of side railing installed, and 120 cubic meters of granular material transported to build and install a new culvert 1.50 meters in diameter and 10 meters long.

Currently, the main focus of the workers is on the total replacement of the damaged culvert with a new one, which will require an additional three months of work.
