The Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, announced that tomorrow the Official Bulletin will publish the repeal of the Statistical Import System (SEDI) through a joint resolution of the Revenue and Customs Control Agency (ARCA) and the Secretariat of Industry and Commerce, dependent on the Ministry of Finance.
Caputo highlighted that the decision to repeal the SEDI was made after confirming that the mechanism achieved its goal of normalizing, transparently, ordering, and streamlining the import system. The SEDI was designed to obtain prior information about import operations and to conduct statistical tracking of imported goods. However, it was determined that there is no longer a need to collect advance information for statistical purposes.
The national official explained that, after the repeal of the SEDI, policies will continue to be implemented to facilitate trade exchanges, with the aim of making them simple, transparent, efficient, and predictable, ensuring fair conditions for competition.
