The Government has modified the rules of the Technical Vehicle Verification (VTV). According to the new regulations, new cars will have to undergo the VTV five years after their registration. For commercial vehicles, the first inspection must be conducted two years after registration. Private cars that are between 5 and 10 years old will need to perform the VTV every five years, while commercial vehicles will have to do it every two years. It is important to highlight that cars older than 10 years will have to undergo the VTV every two years.
In other measures related to vehicles, the National Inter-jurisdictional Transport License (Linti) has been eliminated, with national licenses of categories C, D, and E being granted by the jurisdictions. The theoretical-practical courses and psychophysical assessments can be conducted by both public and private providers, as long as they are registered with the National Road Safety Agency. Additionally, the driver's license will remain valid if the address is updated in the ID card.
Among other measures, it will be allowed to verify vehicles at any workshop authorized by the State, barrier-free tolls will be implemented on all national roads, importing mass-produced vehicles will be facilitated, and the importation of auto parts will be streamlined by eliminating the approval of safety auto parts. All these decisions are part of the simplification of administrative and practical procedures within the framework of the Transportation Secretariat.
In the words of the responsible authorities: "The new configuration of the VTV makes it clear that there is an important change in the timing and modalities of vehicle verification in Argentina." These modifications aim to simplify processes for users and ensure road safety in the country.
