Argentina Nears Final Agreement with IMF

Economy Minister Luis Caputo reported that negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are in the final stage, with agreements reached on economic terms. In statements to A24, Caputo mentioned that they are closing the amount of the agreement and that there is total consensus on this.

In his words, Caputo highlighted that he never requested a specific amount from the IMF in any evaluation meeting and emphasized the entity's satisfaction with the stricter targets proposed by Argentina, which have been surpassed. This, according to the minister, gives great credibility to the country in these international negotiations.

The minister announced that the amount of the agreement will be sufficient to recapitalize the Central Bank without increasing national debt. Regarding the availability of funds, he mentioned that they are contemplated within a framework to be announced in the future, without being able to provide more details at this moment.

Caputo also expressed that they have strong support from IMF executives and Kristalina Georgieva. In addition, he pointed out that they are in the phase of defining the final amount of the agreement, its disbursement, and the subsequent parliamentary approval.

Regarding the participation of Congress in these decisions, the minister stated that the process will continue with the final agreement stage, still not counting on final approval, which he hopes to obtain soon.

In summary, Luis Caputo ensured that the agreement with the IMF is well-structured and that the population can be calm about the management carried out so far.
