Argentina's Automotive Market Expected to Grow

The Government expects a strong stimulation of the automotive market this year, driven by economic recovery and price reductions due to tax cuts. The import of around 50,000 hybrid cars is anticipated throughout the year, vehicles that do not use fossil fuels. The Association of Automobile Manufacturers of Argentina (ADEFA) and the importers of CIDOA will be responsible for distributing this contingent equally, committing to offer the lowest possible prices, below $20,000, exempt from the 35 percent tariff.

The Government's goal is to increase the presence of electrified cars in the Argentine automotive market and reduce the prices of popular new vehicles, focusing benefits on hybrid and electric models. In 2024, 14,175 units of vehicles with alternative propulsion (hybrids and pure electric) were registered in Argentina, 48% more than in 2023, when 9,558 vehicles were registered. The most registered model in both years was the Toyota Corolla Cross (HEV), with a total of 7,614 units registered.
