The Tigre branch of the Mitre line will return to normal operations once the renovation works, starting on February 22, are completed. These works are expected to improve travel times and ensure greater operational safety for users.
During the ten days of service interruption, three travel alternatives will be offered, combining train, subway, and buses. The Tigre branch will cease operations, while the services of José León Suárez and Bartolomé Mitre will operate with limited service to Belgrano R.
The works will include the renovation of 40 kilometers of tracks between Empalme Maldonado and Tigre, as well as interventions at level crossings and signaling in poor condition. It is important to note that this stoppage is not due to a work stoppage but to the need for immediate intervention in areas with operational problems.
The authorities of Trenes Argentinos reported that intensive work will be carried out during these first 10 days to address areas with the most issues. Subsequently, the works will continue at night to avoid interfering with the service. These interventions are part of a comprehensive plan that will extend for approximately 24 months.
During these first 10 days, work will be carried out in various sections, including the complete renewal of the tracks and drainage systems at the Olivos and La Lucila stations. These tasks will be managed by Trenes Argentinos Infrastructure (ADIF), within the framework of the Railway Emergency declared by the National Government. The replacement of rails and sleepers over 30 years old is planned, as well as interventions at level crossings, track crossings, and works of art in the area.
