New Digital Vehicle Registration in Argentina

The National Government is implementing a new digital system to register 0km cars in Argentina. Through the Mi Argentina application, buyers can obtain the certificate and title of the vehicle without the need to go to a Motor Vehicle Registry. This reform is part of the changes being made in the registration system by the Secretariat of Justice in conjunction with Sebastián Amerio.

The Minister of Justice, Mariano Cuneo Libarona, announced that the completely digital registration of new vehicles has been enabled, with the ultimate goal of achieving a 100% digital Registry. This measure includes the elimination of bureaucratic processes and the reduction of costs for users.

In the first stage, recognized dealerships as habitual merchants will be responsible for applying this new registration. The registration of cars will be done remotely through the Virtual Unique Registry (RUV) created for this purpose.

This provision applies to national and imported vehicles purchased by adults. The virtual registration aims to simplify the registration process and avoid the need to physically go to the Motor Vehicle Registries.

The Government detailed that with these reforms it seeks to improve the efficiency and accessibility of registration services, alleviating the administrative burden for both users and competent authorities. Furthermore, this measure is expected to generate significant savings for users and for the State.

The new 0km car registration system will be implemented through the National Unique Motor Vehicle Registry (RUNA) and will come into effect soon. Among the beneficiaries are the official dealers of terminal companies in the automotive industry, distributors of foreign factories, and importers of motor vehicles and motorcycles. This initiative is part of a series of reforms aimed at simplifying motor vehicle processes in the country.
