Strong increase in vehicle registration in January

In January 2025, a total of 68,988 vehicles were registered in Argentina, showing an increase of 103.4% compared to the same month of the previous year, when 33,917 units were recorded, according to the Association of Automotive Dealers (ACARA). This figure also represents an increase of 217.1% when compared to December of the previous year, when 21,758 vehicles were registered.

It is noted that this is the best start of the year since 2018, when the figure reached 116,300 units registered in January. Sebastián Beato, president of ACARA, commented that these numbers indicate significant growth in the automotive sector. He added that this has been the best January in the last seven years and that the reduction of the tax burden has been an important and anticipated announcement for the value chain in the sector.

Regarding the factors that have contributed to this increase in vehicle sales, Beato highlighted the presence of accessible financing, the decrease in inflation, and the achieved macroeconomic stability. He also emphasized the importance of the Government continuing to encourage economic activity to maintain this positive trend.

The president of ACARA pointed out that the year 2025 begins with two good news for the automotive sector: the growth registered in January and the downward trend in prices, which will further stimulate the market. With active demand expected to persist in the coming months, a promising outlook for the automotive industry in Argentina is anticipated.
