
The Ministry of Defense prepared a report highlighting advances in the purchase of new military equipment, Argentina's geopolitical position, and salary increases for public employees during the first year of Javier Milei's administration. The president emphasized the importance of valuing the Armed Forces, which led to a 5% salary adjustment for the Argentine Army, Navy, and Air Force in November-December, according to joint resolution 56/2024.
Salary scales were established for various ranks in the Armed Forces, reflecting increases from November and December. The official report revealed annual savings of $11,227,000,000 by November 2024 in the Ministry of Defense, with spending reductions such as structural changes, limitations on overtime, among others.
Regarding investments, the incorporation of military planes, reconditioning of tanks, and restoration of ships were highlighted, focusing on ensuring an efficient response to contemporary risks. Various savings achieved in the second half of the year by the Ministry of Defense were mentioned, such as reduction in cleaning expenses, organizational restructuring, among others.
Additionally, details were provided on the incorporation and modernization of military equipment, delivery of aircraft and flight trainers, training boats, logistical trucks, among others. The Government aims to integrate as a global partner of NATO to enhance the capabilities of the Forces through training programs, knowledge sharing, and participation in joint exercises.
In December, President Milei announced a salary adjustment for the Armed Forces, highlighting the effort of the members for the benefit of the homeland and expressing the commitment to reconcile politics with the Armed Forces.
