The removal of taxes on the automotive sector in Argentina is beginning to take effect, with a significant international brand announcing substantial reductions in several of its models. Ford Argentina announced the new prices of its vehicles, which will come into force from February 1. Mid-range and high-end cars will benefit from this measure, while more economical cars will not see changes in their prices.
One of the areas highlighted in Ford's price reductions is that of SUVs. The Bronco Sport model, for example, has decreased significantly in price, with a reduction of almost 12 million pesos in its most accessible version. Another iconic model, the Mustang GT performance V8, also experienced a sharp price drop, going from 100 thousand to 82 thousand dollars, equivalent to 20 million pesos at the current exchange rate.
The tax reduction in the automotive sector benefits both cars and motorcycles. Starting from February 1, mid-range vehicles will be exempt from tariffs, eliminating 20% of internal taxes. In the case of vehicles considered luxury, with prices above 75 million pesos, the tax will be reduced from 35% to 18%.
The announced measures also include tax exemptions for imported vehicles from certain countries, such as Colombia or Uruguay. However, a limit of 50 thousand electric or hybrid vehicles that can be imported annually under this regime is established, and car manufacturers must meet certain requirements evaluated by the national government.
In summary, the removal of taxes on the automotive sector in Argentina is generating significant discounts on various Ford models, both in the mid-range and luxury segments. Consumers will be able to benefit from substantial reductions in the prices of vehicles such as the Ford Kuga hybrid, which experienced one of the largest reductions in its cost, of around 12 million pesos.
