The national government has authorized the transfer of goods to customs warehouses for verification, resulting in a reduction of entry costs into the country. The measure was established by General Resolution 5644/2025 of ARCA, published in the Official Bulletin, and will come into effect in 30 days.
According to ARCA, importers will be able to take the goods recently entered into the country to a customs warehouse for physical and documentary inspections, reducing costs by up to 80%. Previously, the cargo had to remain in a port terminal awaiting customs inspections, which significantly increased costs.
The obligation to keep containers in the port terminal, especially during physical inspection processes in the Red Channel, generated excessive operational costs. With the new system, the cost of storage in a customs warehouse is on average 80% cheaper than in a port terminal.
In official words: "The transfer of goods is carried out with security personnel, satellite guidance, and an Electronic Monitoring Seal (PEMA). This system guarantees the security and integrity of the cargo during transit to its destination." The implementation will initially take place in the Metropolitan area, where there are 45 customs warehouses available. It will subsequently be extended to the entire country according to a schedule to be determined.
