The company Netflix announced a 32% increase in its rates for different plans in Argentina, which will take effect from February. The basic plan will rise from $4,299 to $5,999 (plus taxes), with an increase of $1,700; the standard plan will go from $7,199 to $9,999 (plus taxes), with an increase of $2,800; and the premium plan from $9,699 will increase to $13,499 (plus taxes), which represents $3,800 more.
In addition, Netflix announced the introduction of a new plan that will allow subscribers at the ad-supported level to add a person outside their household to also access the content included in their subscription. This is the second price adjustment in less than six months, following the increase implemented last October in various regions.
In a letter addressed to its investors, Netflix explained that these increases are aimed at supporting its investment strategy in content and improving the user experience. After the presentation of its financial results, this morning Netflix's stock rose 15% on Wall Street, reaching $1,000 and valuing the streaming company at $420 billion.
Meanwhile, Amazon Prime Video will also increase its prices. It will go from $3,999 to $5,199 excluding taxes starting February 22, following the last increase in September 2024. In the last fifteen months, Amazon Prime Video has experienced a significant rise in its rate, reaching $7,954 including taxes in Argentina as of February 22, 2025.
Another major streaming platform in Argentina is Disney Plus, which adjusted its prices for standard and premium plans in November last year, fixing them at $10,699 and $15,299, respectively.
