Netflix Increases Subscription Prices in 2025

Netflix has announced a significant increase in the prices of its subscriptions starting in 2025. This price adjustment represents the largest increase in the company's history. The most popular plans will be affected, along with the addition of a new plan for extra accounts. According to the financial results report shared by Netflix, it was confirmed that the prices of the majority of subscription plans will change.

MoMo Zhou, spokesperson for the platform, detailed that the fee for the ad-supported plan will increase from $6.99 to $7.99 per month. The standard ad-free plan, one of the most demanded, will rise from $15.49 to $17.99 per month, while the premium plan, the most expensive, will go up from $22.99 to $24.99 per month. These adjustments will take effect in the next billing cycle for subscribers, according to Zhou.

The company justifies these changes as part of its ongoing effort to improve its content and services. Although this price increase will only take place in certain countries such as the United States, Canada, Portugal, and Argentina, Netflix has experienced significant growth in its user base, adding 19 million new subscribers in recent months.

On the other hand, Netflix will introduce a new plan called "Extra Member with Ads," which will allow users to add an additional account for an extra cost of $6.99 per month. This additional account could be used by a person who does not reside in the main subscriber's household. It is noteworthy that this price adjustment also includes an increase in the price for adding an extra member to an ad-free plan.

It is important to mention that Netflix emphasizes that these changes aim to sustain and improve the quality of the content offered, reaffirming its commitment to investing in original programming. Despite these increases, it has not yet been confirmed whether there will be changes in rates for other countries, such as Mexico, so users in these regions should stay tuned for future official communications from Netflix.
