
Wednesday, March 5 marked the start of the school year in several provinces of Argentina that had postponed the return to the classrooms due to the Carnival holiday. Other jurisdictions, such as Neuquén, Chaco, and La Pampa, also resumed classes in the following days. In contrast, students from Chubut were the first to return to school, as the province advanced the start date to January 27.
The school calendar for the year 2025 includes different important dates in various Argentine provinces. Regarding winter vacations, Buenos Aires, CABA, Chaco, and Santiago del Estero will have a break from July 21 to August 1, while in other provinces the dates vary between July 7 and July 25. On the other hand, it is estimated that the end of the 2025 school year will occur in mid to late December, depending on the province.
The Federal Council of Education (CFE) established that the 2025 school calendar must meet a minimum of 190 school days, although the start of classes varies in each district. The provinces that have formally started the school year are Buenos Aires Province, Catamarca, La Rioja, Misiones, Río Negro, Santiago del Estero, Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands, and Tucumán.
In contrast, 12 provinces had already started the school year on February 24, including the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA). In provinces such as Buenos Aires, Misiones, and Salta, classes will end on December 22, while La Pampa will be the last to close the school year, on December 26.
