The municipal management of Zárate is once again under scrutiny for its handling of nightlife. The Municipal Court of Misdemeanors is considering lifting the closure of the nightclub "Imagen", located in the city center, despite complaints from residents about disturbances and noise.
The case was reactivated after the venue was closed by an intervention from the municipal government area, following episodes of conflict at the exit and complaints from residents who denounced the impossibility of resting in the area. According to the Argentine News Agency, the decision to lift the closure does not have internal consensus: the Government Secretariat would have expressed its opposition in the file, considering that the conditions for reopening are not met.
The background exposes a recurring problem: intermittent municipal control and a chain of responsibilities that dilutes among permits, inspections, and sanctions that do not always maintain the same criteria. In practice, the message left for residents is corrosive: it is closed, but it is negotiated; action is taken under pressure, but it eases when the topic leaves the media spotlight.
With the reopening in discussion, the municipality faces an additional political cost: if the conflict returns, the explanation will no longer be "we didn't know", but why it was authorized again.
