On Sunday, February 9, authorities were alerted about the disappearance of Fernando Reto Reynal, 44 years old, while he was climbing Cerro El Plata in Mendoza with his friend Samuel. During the intense search, which involved the Mountain Rescue and Assistance Patrol (UPRAM) and the Police Aviation Corps (CAP), the renowned lawyer was finally found safe and sound 50 kilometers from where he was last seen, in Uspallata.
In a statement issued by National Gendarmerie personnel at the Integrated Control Area (ACI) in Uspallata, it was reported that Reynal was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, although no details were given about his discovery. It is believed that the lawyer may have descended by a different path without notifying anyone or informing that he was leaving the search area, which complicated his location.
After the media uproar, Fernando Reynal spoke through his personal Facebook account, sharing a photo of himself and reassuring those who were worried about his well-being: "I am perfect." The lawyer's family has been present since the start of the rescue efforts, thanking the support received in the search for Fernando. Currently, he is expected to be interrogated in the coming hours to clarify what happened and advance the investigation into the incident.
