After the events that occurred at the meeting for the 63rd anniversary of the CCIAT, in which Eduardo “Lali” Gottardini, leader of Unidos x Tunuyán and father of Security Advisor Cristian Gottardini, physically assaulted journalists Marcelo Ruiz and Fabián Acuña, the corresponding complaint was filed with the Public Prosecutor's Office of Tunuyán. Almost 90 days after this incident, prosecutor's assistant Pablo Ortiz decided to charge Gottardini in the framework of Case P-130800/24, which now opens a period of uncertainty that will keep the political environment of Tunuyán on edge.
The Gottardini family has a history marked by controversies, with the latest relevant episode being the electoral fraud that occurred in the days leading up to the 2023 general elections, which has left a dark precedent in their political trajectory. According to Data News, the charges come at a time when the leader is approaching figures from the Libertad Avanza coalition ahead of the upcoming legislative elections. It is worth noting that his party has gone through various political alliances and currently maintains ties with Alfredo Cornejo's radicalism, although the Mendoza ruling party minimizes his role within its ranks.
"The charges are an important step in the search for justice and redress for the journalists assaulted at that event. We hope that the process is carried out transparently and that justice is served," commented Marcelo Ruiz when consulted by local media.
This new development has generated controversy in the region, questioning the political future of Eduardo “Lali” Gottardini and his influence in the political arena of Tunuyán. The charges come at a crucial time as elections approach and Gottardini strategically positions himself amidst changing alliances. Uncertainty reigns in the local political environment, awaiting how this judicial process will unfold and what consequences it may bring for the leader and his political surroundings.
