The director of the Olivos Clinic, Federico Dimitroff, testified in the trial regarding the death of Diego Armando Maradona and confirmed that the star footballer's primary doctors were neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque and psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov. According to judicial sources, Dimitroff testified for more than five hours and reiterated his recommendation to transfer Maradona to a rehabilitation center for his post-operative care and alcohol addiction.
During his testimony, Dimitroff defended the position of the Olivos Clinic and had discussions with the accusing parties, especially regarding the home hospitalization of the patient at Swiss Medical in the gated community of San Andrés. A plaintiff emphasized the absence of a clinical doctor in Tigre, to which the professional responded that the service was offered on demand by the specialists attending to Maradona.
In a prior statement to the prosecution, Dimitroff had mentioned that they provided a doctor on demand; however, during the trial, he clarified that this meant the same as on demand. In response to these statements, the legal advisor of VerĂ³nica Ojeda and Dieguito Fernando, Mario Baudry, accused Dimitroff of lying and stated that they are preparing legal actions against him.
The hearing will continue to develop, and it is expected that statements related to the medical care provided to Diego Maradona in his final days will be expanded upon.
