The family and police are intensively searching for 17-year-old Abril Romero Miranda, who has been missing for over two months. A new raid was carried out in the city of Tartagal in Salta province. According to the family, an adult man, Cristian Velazco, took the girl from her home on September 18th. She had been living with him for two months, during which he manipulated and deceived her. Before disappearing, Abril left her mother a note saying she was leaving with "the love of her life". Authorities note that Velazco has a criminal record for kidnapping and gender-based violence. Following a new protest on the morning of December 4th, the girl's mother, Jorgelina Miranda, told Noticias Argentinas that police and Commissioner Carlos Silva are working closely together on the search. "They are working very hard," she stated. Previous raids were also conducted at Velazco's uncle's home and on a section of the border with Bolivia, motivated by the theory of a possible human trafficking or sexual exploitation network.
