Controversy Over Salary Increases in Rivadavia

The mayor of Rivadavia, Ricardo Mansur, faces backlash for his significant salary hike compared to minimal increases for municipal employees, sparking claims of inequity and mismanagement.

Controversy Over Salary Increases in Rivadavia

The management of the mayor of Rivadavia, Ricardo Mansur, has generated growing disapproval both in the opposition and among the residents of the department. This is due to the controversial salary increase that Mansur received in the last year, which is considered excessive compared to the salary increase of other municipal employees.

In a comparison, Mayor Mansur's salary went from $871,000 in January 2024 to about $1,921,000 this year. On the other hand, municipal directors saw an increase that brought their salaries from $609,000 to $1,344,000. In contrast, category 3 employees only received an increase of $90,000, which raised their salaries to approximately $190,000.

This disparity in salary increases has caused criticism from those who claim the mayor governs mainly for his own benefit. The initial promise to allocate 68% of the budget to municipal staff, with an increase of over 200%, ultimately resulted in a 130% increase. The implementation of the formula proposed by Mansur was not applied equitably across all sectors.

Regarding bonuses, the demand for their distribution has also been a contentious point in Mansur's management. Although last year bonuses increased from $30,000 to $60,000, this month they reached $100,000, still below what other municipalities offer, which can reach up to $150,000. This situation has generated a sense of inequity among the workers of Rivadavia, who see how their salaries and benefits do not match the high increases perceived by municipal authorities.
