One-year-old baby hospitalized

A one‑year‑old baby was admitted to emergency care at the Pediatric Hospital in Resistencia, Chaco after accidentally ingesting cocaine. The child was at home under her grandmother’s care when irritation and general discomfort were noticed, prompting the grandmother to bring her to the hospital. Toxicological tests confirmed the presence of the substance after several hours of observation. The baby was then placed under the legal guardianship of her grandmother.

Health professionals stated that the evolution was favorable and the patient was in good general condition at discharge.

The provincial child‑protection authority and the courts launched an investigation to determine the adults’ responsibility and ensure the child’s safety.
