As part of the strengthening of the Air Traffic Surveillance System of the Argentine Republic, the complete renovation of the secondary radar located at Posadas International Airport in Misiones Province was carried out.
This milestone represents a new step in the National Radar System and Air Surveillance Modernization Program, through which the modernization of 22 radars across the country is advancing, according to the Argentine News Agency.
With the commissioning of the Posadas radar, eight systems have now been renewed in recent months, consolidating a substantial improvement in the technological infrastructure of the Air Navigation Services throughout the country.
The radar modernization included the replacement of its central electronic components and the incorporation of advanced technologies such as Mode S and ADS-B.
These improvements allow air traffic controllers to access precise and more specific data about the movement of aircraft in the region, optimizing flight management and strengthening operational safety within the system's coverage area.
Due to its strategic location, the Posadas radar upgrade provides real-time data, with better quality and more information than the previous system, to the Area Control Center (ACC) of Resistencia.
This way, it strengthens radar coverage in a key area of northeastern Argentina and optimizes air traffic management, enabling a greater number of flights in the region.
This advance adds to the recent modernizations carried out by the Argentine Air Navigation Company (EANA) on the radars of La Rioja, San Luis, Bariloche, Bahía Blanca, Quilmes, and Santa Rosa, developed by the company INVAP, along with the new radar for Ezeiza Airport provided with Indra technology.
«With this renovation, we continue to advance in strengthening the technological infrastructure throughout the national territory and consolidate Argentina's positioning as a regional benchmark in the provision of air navigation services,» indicated EANA.
