Argentina: Man Arrested in Double Murder Over Debt

Buenos Aires, March 13 (NA) – A 34-year-old man was arrested this Friday accused of being the author of the murders of Jonathan David Posdeley and Priscila Oriana Barsky, the step-siblings shot dead over a debt of $230,000 in the Buenos Aires district of Pilar. Police sources informed the Noticias Argentinas agency that the suspect is Jonathan Emmanuel Núñez, who has a pending arrest warrant in connection with the double homicide committed on Saturday, January 24. Officers from the Luján DDI, who were conducting fieldwork on a robbery case involving the UFI No. 9 of Mercedes, received information about the suspect, which led them to set up an undercover operation in the locality of Moreno and arrest the individual at Cuartel V. Núñez, along with an accomplice, went to the residence on Pedro de Mendoza Street 675 in Pilar to collect a debt of 230,000 pesos from a furniture sale and opened fire on Posdeley (34) and Barsky (22), meters away from their family members. The victims were taken to the Central Hospital, where doctors confirmed their deaths, while the attackers fled in a Toyota Hilux pickup truck. “They didn’t go to scare them, they went to kill them,” sentenced Gabriel, the young people’s uncle, in statements to Clarín, while describing Jonathan as a peaceful person and Priscila as a working mother dedicated entirely to her children.
