A tragic accident occurred this Saturday in Oberá, Misiones, when a man who was driving intoxicated with his two children lost control of the vehicle and overturned.
As a result of the crash, his 8-year-old son died, while the other child, a 10-year-old, was taken to a hospital in Posadas with serious injuries and his condition remains critical.
According to the Argentine News Agency, the incident took place in the El Progreso neighborhood. The driver, identified as Andrés P., 36, was traveling in a Chevrolet Corsa Pick Up with his two sons when he «lost control, skidded off the road, and overturned».
Following the accident, local police and emergency services transported the driver and the children to a hospital. Doctors confirmed the death of the 8-year-old child, stating that the cause of death was «a skull trauma, bilateral hemothorax (blood accumulated in the chest), and hepatic rupture (a severe tear or break in the liver)».
Police confirmed that the man «was driving intoxicated» and was therefore arrested at the medical center and is in the custody of the Third Police Station.
