
The Minister of Labor, Economy and Commerce of the Province of Alberta, Canada, Matt Jones, visited the province of Neuquén with the aim of strengthening the relationships between both regions. During his stay, he participated in the Argentina Oil & Gas (AOG) Expo Patagonia 2024, a crucial event in the region, where he supported the Alberta companies present there.
During the visit, the importance of sharing experiences, projecting collaborations, and working together to enhance and leverage the synergy between both provinces was emphasized to foster mutual growth. Jones highlighted the wealth of resources and existing similarities between the regions, which make it possible to build solid foundations for future collaborations.
Jones mentioned Alberta's interest in working on unconventional projects in Neuquén, which has evolved over time into a concrete reality. Additionally, he highlighted Alberta's leadership position in the responsible development of energy and in emission reduction, as well as the existing cooperation with Neuquén through a memorandum of understanding signed in 2022.
During the trade mission in Argentina, meetings were scheduled with industry representatives and officials to establish contacts with companies interested in investing in Alberta. Priority topics addressed included oil and gas development, conventional energy production, the exploitation of unconventional resources, and technologies for emission reduction.
The governor of Neuquén, Rolando Figueroa, received Jones and reminisced about the history of cooperation and projection that both jurisdictions have shared for years. Figueroa highlighted the importance of strengthening ties between Alberta and Neuquén, recognizing the positive impact this can have on the economic and energy development of both regions.
