Four detainees escape from Neuquén prison

Four detainees are being intensively sought in the province of Neuquén after escaping from a detention center through a hole they made in one of the cells.

The escape occurred on Monday night at Detention Unit 12, located at Domingo Matheu 4730, when the four criminals took advantage of a distraction and fled through a hole in the ceiling of one of the cells, according to information from LM Neuquén, which was accessed by the Argentine News Agency.

Among the fugitives are: • Diego Ezequiel Bastías, accused of attempted femicide; • Josué Jeremías Fresco, convicted; • Lucas Nicolás Cruces, in preventive detention for car theft; • Rogelio Rojas Cisterna, sentenced to 11 years and 6 months.

The last two have a history of having escaped from police stations.

From the moment the escape became known, a large-scale operation was deployed in the area to try to find the accused, although so far there have been no positive results. The provincial Ministry of Security and the Police have asked the public that, if they have any information that could lead to the whereabouts of the fugitives, they should immediately contact the nearest police station or 911.
