A 17-year-old girl was seriously injured in a traffic accident that occurred at the intersection of Mosconi Avenue and El Cholar, in the city of Neuquén. The incident took place when the driver of a Fiat Cronos ran a red light and collided with a Fiat Palio carrying four women.
The driver of the Fiat Palio suffered fractures in both legs and other injuries, being urgently transported to Castro Rendón Hospital, where she was admitted to intensive care. Another occupant, aged 14, was also admitted to the same hospital with a severe head contusion. The other two women were taken to Bouquet Roldán Hospital but have since been discharged.
The 38-year-old driver of the Fiat Cronos tested positive for 1.39 grams of alcohol per liter of blood, according to the breathalyzer test performed. After the accident, he was hospitalized and underwent surgery due to the presence of fluid in his lungs. Additionally, his driver's license was revoked, as the province has a Zero Alcohol Driving law in effect.
Authorities have begun the initial investigations to determine the responsibility for the incident, including the analysis of available security cameras.
