The celebration of the Último Primer Día (UPD) in the city of Necochea, Buenos Aires province, was marked by a violent incident early Monday morning, when a young man was injured with a bladed weapon at the intersection of avenue 2 and street 75. According to local media Diario Cuatro Vientos, which had access to the Argentine News Agency, the incident was reported after a call to 911, which prompted an operation involving police officers, Traffic, Transport, and Civil Defense personnel. Upon arrival, authorities found the victim with a puncture wound in his left thigh and provided first aid until medical assistance arrived. Based on testimonies from other youths participating in the festivities, personnel from the Third Police Station's Operational Tactics Group (GTO) began a search in the area to identify the aggressor. According to the information published by that medium, minutes later, Traffic agents spotted a suspect in the area of avenue 59 between streets 40 and 42, and alerted the police, who intercepted him around 6:30. The incident once again put the security conditions of student parties in the region on the agenda. During the procedure, officers seized a blade approximately 28 centimeters long with a wooden handle. The young man was apprehended and charged with a presumed violation of article 38 of Decree Law 8031/73, which penalizes the carrying of bladed weapons in public without legal justification.
