A police officer from the City of Buenos Aires is in serious condition after being shot by criminals who attempted to rob him in the Buenos Aires town of Morón. In the incident, a cadet who was with the officer was also injured but is out of danger. The incident occurred on Tuesday night on Curupaytí Street at number 700, where, according to police sources, the officer was intercepted by at least two thieves who tried to steal his motorcycle, leading to a shootout. After the exchange of fire, the suspects fled without committing the robbery. During the shootout, the officer, identified as Mariano Agustín Guerre, was shot three times—once in the chest, once in the buttocks, and once in his right leg. His companion, Leyla Espinosa, suffered injuries to her left leg and right hand. Guerre and Espinosa were immediately taken to the Morón Hospital, where they were treated. Initially, the officer was reported to be in critical condition, but doctors were attempting to stabilize him due to multiple injuries, including vascular damage to the small intestine, gallbladder, and colon, as well as a fractured left fibula from a gunshot wound with six bullet holes, which could be entry and exit wounds. Meanwhile, it was indicated that after an emergency surgery and once stabilized, Guerre would be transferred to the Italian Hospital in the Almagro neighborhood, while the woman is out of danger after suffering an open fracture in her right index finger.
